M.Hayat & Bros. LTD – Rosewood Nesting Stools – Pakistan Mid-Century Modern
Something we’ve never seen before…a pair of mid-century nesting stools from Pakistan – made of rosewood. Beautiful…they have pegs keeping the upper stools in place so you can use these as taller stools or break them out individually for near-floor Middle-Eastern style seating arrangements. I never realized Pakistan made some clever, beautiful mid-century furniture. Impressive.

new local find – Three Harry Bertoia Side Chairs by Knoll
Just found these three smiling beauties sitting outside of a trailer today here in Jackson- knocked on the door, made an offer to the nice lady inside and now they’re ours! They look early (appear to be 1960’s based on the Knoll label and fact that there is no stamp on the back horizontal wire). Normal wear associated with age and being exposed to the weather but these have held up very well considering – I don’t see any broken welds. The pads are pretty worn – especially the straps and the coating on the steel has worn off in several areas but all in all, these are fantastic and very comfortable.

Solid frame, tight joinery and a clean design. If interested, Matterhouse will order new straps and fabricate new cushions in the fabric of your choice.
A little info on Wikkelsø can be found here.
And a couple images of others are here and here.

Nils Jonsson Pair of Vanities / Dresser
Here’s another new acquisition- a pair of Nils Jonsson Vanities made by Torring Mobelfabrik, produced by HJN Mobler in Denmark- circa 1965. These are in wonderful condition and show beautifully. Wood is teak with a honey birch interior and nice dovetail joinery. Elegant design and profile of the integrated pulls. The original bases were not with them when we found them and they were converted so they could be stacked to be a dresser. These could either be used as a dresser, or standalone units with new bases – or they could be hung from a wall for maximum coolness. Come check them out.
